Director of Curriculum and Instruction District Testing Coordinator ESL, Gifted and Talented, Dyslexia
Pleasant Grove ISD curriculum and instruction is intentionally designed to foster a lifelong love of learning through colloaboration and innovation. Our curriculum is aligned to support our district's mission to empower students through experiential learning to successfully navigate the opportunities of a competetive and complex world. In addition to the core curricular areas- language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and the arts- PGISD curriculum provides career and technical programs, support for those with disabilities, gifted and talented students, ESL students and alternative programs for credit recovery.
C&I Guiding Principles:
PGISD follows the scope and sequence and curriculum documents in the TEKS Resource curriculum management system. TEKS RS was developed by the Texas Education Service Center Curriculum Collaborative, which is comprised of the Texas' 20 Education Service Centers. Our staff uses this tool as a guide to plan rigorous instruction with specific learning objectives to challenge students at every grade level.
When developing curriculum and planning instruction, PGISD educators consider the following questions:
1. What do we expect our students to learn?
2. How will we know they are learning?
3. How will we respond when they don't learn?
4. How will we respond if they already know it?
This questionong approach to learning requires PGISD to constantly evaluate our practices in light of their impact on learning.
